Dan McBrayer - AKA "Dan The Man!"
FULL NAME: Daniel Earl McBrayer, My Mom called me Danny Earl, in true southern fashion. Heck, I was a big kid before I even knew my first name was Daniel. BIRTHDAY: September 3rd BORN: Louisville (pronounced Lewisville), Miss. PLAYS: Bass (Currently) also Guitar, Keyboard, etc. I Started playing when I was 6. My uncle had an old "Stella" guitar and I got interested in playing it. (He recently gave me that guitar and I wouldn't part with it for the world). So, Mom ordered me a genuine Gene Autry guitar from Sears, complete with the cowboy riding his horse painted on front. At that time there happened to be little lady (I think Jewish decent, imagine that, in "backwoods" Mississippi) that taught music at my elementary school. She started teaching chords to a few of us kids and we played at school assemblies and other school functions. My interest in music progressed to the point that I took piano lessons during my Jr. high years and developed a bit of a formal music background. I even substituted at piano in church a few times during those years. Through high school, another teacher (our Ag teacher) played guitar and we formed a small band and played various functions, mostly there at school. I primarily played bass during that time. Later, during some of my early college years, I augmented my income by playing rock and roll guitar in a band that played local VFW's, American Legions, and other such clubs. After school, I moved to Texas where after a couple of years I started playing with various local bands, either playing bass or guitar. During that time, I played with different country and pop bands sometimes playing with a 3-piece pop/rock group that did mostly country clubs, private parties and wedding receptions. I was fortunate enough to play for a couple of our governors during that period. During the late 80's, a friend of mine and I started a top 40 country band called Backroads. We played various clubs; the old Junkyard, Reflections, and Outlaws, to name a few. Since leaving that band in the early 90's, I've mostly filled in with many bands such as Dallas City Limits (with whom I've played off and on for over 30 years), the Dave Anderson Band, and other local classic rock and country bands. Over the years I've been very fortunate to play with many very, very good players. And since music is just part of who I am, I guess I will always play something until my tired old fingers can't do it anymore. Hey, I just tell it like I see it. - Dan - AWP (Average White Picker) ![]() Dan is probably the farthest thing from an "Average" musician that I have ever had the privilege to play with. He can play anything that makes music, and can play it WELL! Soft spoken, easy going, showman deluxe, great singer, and he's got a cute little butt! (or so I've heard). Seriously, I'm very lucky to have Dan in the band. He's always the "Go To" guy. I'm happy to call him my friend, and thankful for his willingness to help and teach me music. Without a doubt he's this band's Most Valuable Player ![]() ![]() Dans Gear For my bass rig I play an 80's model Peavy TL5 (5 string) with a "through the body" neck. We run it through a SWR 4004 head into Hartke 4-10 and Hartke 1-15 cabinets. (info on Dan's guitar and keyboard rigs coming soon) ![]() ![]() | Danny McBrayer | Randy Anderson | Lori Anderson | Basel Dudley | Clay Potter | | Return Home | What's Kickin' | Gig Schedule | The Band | On-line Merchandise | Our Buddies | Picture Gallery | Contact Us | Guest Book | |
